Reconstruction of a 14-kilometre section of road in Zhambyl Region: widening of the carriageway, a new base, asphalt concrete pavement and complete road furniture.
Objective
The old pavement structure was worn out and did not match the traffic load, and the carriageway was narrow. The road had to be widened and the pavement structure completely replaced, ensuring drainage and traffic safety.
Scope of work
- milling of the old pavement;
- widening of the carriageway;
- construction of a crushed stone base;
- two-layer asphalt concrete pavement;
- culverts and shoulder reinforcement;
- road markings, safety barriers and road signs.
Why drainage matters For roads in southern Kazakhstan, with hot summers and freeze-thaw cycles in winter, deterioration most often starts with a waterlogged base. Culverts and reinforced shoulders extend the service life of the pavement.
How the work went
- Removal Milling of the worn pavement.
- Subgrade and base Widening of the carriageway, placement and compaction of the crushed stone base.
- Drainage Installation of culverts, shoulder reinforcement.
- Pavement Laying of two layers of asphalt concrete.
- Road furniture and handover Markings, safety barriers, signs; the facility was handed over in September 2023.
The work took two construction seasons — from April 2022 to September 2023.
Result
The section received a new pavement structure, a widened carriageway and complete road furniture for safe traffic. For such work we have our own machinery — motor graders, rollers, dump trucks; they are also available for rent.
